Time and Space
"To stop the flow of music would be like the stopping of time itself, incredible and inconceivable." --Aaron Copland
I like this quote by Aaron Copland, one of the great American composers of the 20th century. It seems to be a fitting description for Music Sweet Music.
Over the last few months, the flow of music therapy services from Music Sweet Music has continued on its course of reaching children and teens through music.
Time
Music Sweet Music therapists continue to work with hospitalized children at St. Joseph's Hospital and Shriner's Hospital. The programs for All Children's Hospital, in partnership with the outpatient speech department have expanded. Two groups for children with developmental disabilities now meet at the Carillon specialty clinic location. After a short break over the summer, a new program began at the All Children's main campus. This group program is for children with hearing impairments, hearing aids, and cochlear implants. These programs continue to be provided to the hospitals thanks to your donations and support.
Time has also allowed Music Sweet Music to begin contract services. Heartland for Children is a community agency in Polk county that provides services to children in the Foster care system. Recognizing the benefit of music for these children, Heartland brought the services of Music Sweet Music to several of their group homes. Not only are these children getting an effective therapy, but the income generated from the contract goes back into Music Sweet Music. Time has now led to space.
Space
I am pleased to announce that Music Sweet Music now has a therapy studio in the Executive Building in South Pasadena. The space can easily accommodate up to 3 children in a small group and larger groups will be able to meet in the building's conference room.
As space is now available and time continues on, new group programs and individual therapy sessions will begin. So, please continue to visit our site for information on group programs. If you or someone you know would like to have music therapy for a child at the Music Sweet Music Therapy Studio or in the family's home, please contact the office at 727-381-9095 or send us an email through the "Contact Us" page.
As always, on behalf of Music Sweet Music, Inc. and the children we serve, I thank you.
Like the flow of time and music, I hope that stopping the flow of Music Sweet Music will prove to be "incredible and inconceivable."
