In Memoriam

Known throughout his career as a talented and versatile performer and an amazingly intuitive accompanist, Wally Jay Baier passed unexpectedly last week at the age of 67.

Somewhat of a child prodigy, Wally started playing music professionally at age 13. Playing music was the only livelihood within which Wally would engage.

Although a member of several notable bands in the Boston area, in the late 1980’s Wally began playing hotels, resorts and nightclubs up and down the East Coast. In 1996 he began a long stint at The Pub in Indian Shores and in semi-retirement played regularly at the Beach Haus in Gulfport and other venues.

Wally received immense enjoyment from seeing young people become engaged in music and enjoyed giving piano lessons to local youth as well as playing events for disabled and cognitively impaired children.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that contributions be made to Music Sweet Music so that the music and healing continue.
